Brennan Healing Science - by Maureen G. Johanson (eastsidewellness@comcast.net)
As a Reiki Master Teacher, Brennan Healing Science Practitioner, and former BBSH faculty, I have been integrating the two healing modalities in my healing practice for over twenty years. The two modalities work in different ways, and work well together.
“Reiki” is the Japanese word for “Universal Life Force Energy”. It is the same energy referred to as Chi by Chinese, Prana by Yogis, Light by Christians, and Bioplasmic Energy by Russian scientists. The Reiki healing system is based on ancient Tibetan Buddhist Sutras, which were rediscovered in the mid-1800s by Dr. Mikao Usui of Japan, and brought to the US in the mid-1930s by Mrs. Hawayo Takata.
Reiki is passed from teacher to student by a series of attunements using Reiki symbols, which open a channel connecting to the Universal Energy Field, and allowing Reiki to flow through the Reiki healer for self-healing or for healing others. Reiki is an “intelligent” energy, as it is drawn by the client to where it is needed, not directed by the Reiki healer. Because it is so easy to learn in a series of three weekend trainings, there are hundreds of Reiki Masters, and thousands of Reiki practitioners worldwide.
After many years of research, Barbara Brennan developed Brennan Healing Science (BHS), as documented in her books, “Hands of Light: A Guide to Healing Through the Human Energy Field”(1987) and “Light Emerging: A Journey of Personal Healing” (1993). An astrophysicist by training, Barbara Brennan seeks to bridge the gap between science and energy healing. BHS is taught only at the Barbara Brennan School of Healing (BBSH) by Barbara Brennan and teachers who have passed all healing skills evaluations and written exams and graduated from the comprehensive, professional four-year (2000-hour) BBSH program and two-year BBSH teacher-training apprentice program.
BBSH teaches about the four dimensions of humankind - physical body, human energy field (aura), hara-line (life task), and core-star (essence) - and healing techniques appropriate to each dimension, based on Brennan's two books, and the ethics of healer-client relationship. BHS practitioners learn to focus their energy consciousness to specific frequencies of the seven levels of the client's aura (corresponding to the seven main chakras) as well as to the haric and core star dimensions, all while staying grounded in physical reality. BBSH has graduated hundreds of students from all over the world. For more information see brennanprofessionalhealers.org and barbarabrennan.com
During a healing session, a BHS practitioner will first conduct an interview, listening to any issues, such as health, relationship, career, that the client wants to change in their life. The client's energy system (aura) is assessed using High-Sense Perception, and cleared, grounded, and balanced. Then depending on the client's needs and spiritual guidance, any of several BHS healing techniques may be integrated, such as chakra and organ restructuring, astral and past-life clearing, spiritual surgery, repairing relationship cords, auric coherency, aligning hara, and expanding core essence. Finally, the client's aura is cleared and strengthened on the outermost (seventh) auric level, which may help the client release any self-sabotaging beliefs interfering with their authentic life experience.
